"ಭಾನುವಾರದ ಬಾಡೂಟ"A Sunday Supper Club. Once a week, our New Brunswick home becomes a country-Karnataka kitchen for ten — kheema saaru on the fire, the leaf laid, the door wide open. An invitation, not a menu.

— Country Karnataka, in New Jersey

Our Story

A Karnataka Sunday lunch,
hosted from home.

Baadoota is a country-Karnataka non-vegetarian Sunday lunch hosted from our home in New Brunswick. Ten guests, one long table, fifteen dishes served together on the bāḷe ele — banana leaf — and eaten with our hands. Doors open at noon. The same feast, every Sunday.

Country Karnataka cooking — unadapted, unapologetic, unhurried.

Everything is sourced from Dey Farm at Oliveira Acres in Cranbury, NJ. The chicken is naati — country-bred, slow-grown. The mutton is country goat with the bone in. Spices are ground the morning of. The menu is fixed: we do not adapt for vegetarian or vegan diets and cannot accommodate allergies. If that isn't your meal, we'll say so kindly. If it is, the leaf is laid.

From the Soil

ನಾಟಿ

Naati.
What Karnataka means by 'country.'

"Naati" is the Kannada word for native, country-bred, raised the old way. Naati koli is the small, slow-grown country chicken with the muscle of one that walked. Naati mamsa is country goat raised on rain-fed grass. Every plate at Baadoota is sourced from Dey Farm at Oliveira Acres in Cranbury, NJ — birds the size they should be, mutton with the bone in, eggs the colour of yolk butter. The leaf changes nothing. The sourcing changes everything.

Before You Sit Down

Questions, answered.

Three steps. One: you send a request through the form below for the Sunday you want. Two: within 24 hours we write back to confirm a seat is open and send a payment link by Venmo or Zelle. Three: once payment is received, your seat is held — you'll get a confirmation email with the address, gate code, and arrival instructions. Until payment lands, the seat is unconfirmed and may go to the next person on the list.
No — and we want to be plain about it. Baadoota is a country-Karnataka non-vegetarian supper club. The menu is built around country chicken, country goat, prawns, fish, and egg. We do not adapt the menu, do not offer substitutions, and do not have vegetarian or vegan plates. If that's not your meal, we'd genuinely rather you spend the Sunday somewhere it is.
No. The kitchen handles wheat, dairy, ghee, mustard, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish and eggs in close quarters. We cannot guarantee separation, cannot make substitutions, and cannot accommodate any allergy — including mild ones. If you have a serious food allergy, please don't book the seat. Your safety matters more than our supper.
The conversation is adult and Baadoota is meant to be ten adults at a long table — unhurried, undivided, no separate kid table to manage. We're firm on this for everyone, including private bookings. Please bring a photo ID for your first visit.
Not at all. We start every supper with a quiet walk-through of the leaf in plain English — what to eat with what, what's spicy, what's not. The food is generous and balanced; most guests on any given Sunday are eating it for the first time. You'll leave knowing the difference between a saaru and a curry.
No to both. Baadoota is a dry table — we don't serve alcohol and please don't bring any onto the premises. The drinks at the meal are kokum juice on arrival, rasam to sip, and spiced majjige to close. Plus water, always.
Whatever you'd wear to a friend's home for dinner. The food is rich and ghee-forward — wear something forgiving. Shoes come off at the door, so something easy to slip out of is kind to the line behind you.
Full refund if you cancel more than 48 hours out. Inside 48 hours, the seat is non-refundable but freely transferable — send a friend in your place and tell us their name (and confirm they're 18+). Karnataka hospitality is generous; we just need to plan for a leaf.
Free parking is available on the apartment premises — pull into the building lot and use any visitor space. The gate code is in your confirmation email. No need to circle George Street.
Not yet — Baadoota is a sit-down Sunday lunch for now. If you have a question we haven't answered, write to us at hello@baadootanj.com.
